Last Friday, August 8th, we had the pleasure of participating in the Trafkintu of Río Negro. A little further north, we came across a massive event whose sole purpose is exchange.
At this time of year, when the earth is slowly emerging from its rest and is ready to receive planting again, this invitation appears to share the seeds we saved from the previous year and, above all, our knowledge that is not written down anywhere but is passed down from generation to generation.
Seeds, traditional dishes, crafts, animals, instruments, textiles, and many songs and colors made this new Mapuche-Huilliche Trafkintu an encounter that gives us back hope and reminds us that we are part of a generous and resilient community.
As a gift for our neighbors in this space, we brought a bag of Shallots huge, perfect for all our preparations and at just the ideal time to plant them.
If you decide to add them to your order, be sure to let us know if you're going to eat them or plant them, so we can send you the most suitable ones.
A hug,
Neighbor Jose
