Cuwu
Llanquihue, Los Lagos Region
In Llanquihue, in the Los Lagos Region, Yean Carla, along with a group of women committed to sustainability, has created Cuwu, a community project that transforms discarded items into purposeful everyday products. Using traditional weaving and sewing techniques, these artisans rescue textiles that have reached the end of their life cycle and natural fibers to create practical solutions that reduce our environmental footprint.
Their creations range from biodegradable jute sponges and cleaning cloths to innovative beeswax wraps and outdoor adventure kits, all crafted under the philosophy of "return to the earth what belongs to the earth." Each product represents a closed cycle that begins with reclaimed materials, is transformed by local artisans, and ends as a useful object that, at the end of its life, can be reintegrated into the natural environment.
Cuwu not only offers sustainable products but also a circular economy model where fair trade, conscious design and local production converge to demonstrate that the simplest solutions are often the most effective in addressing current environmental challenges.
